As the vice-president of Nanjing University (NJU), I am delighted to facilitate the host of the General Meeting of the International Mineralogical Association in 2026. We are ready to take on the organizing duties.
NJU has a history of 120 years and enjoys high prestige. Throughout its century-old history, Nanjing University has witnessed and shared our nation's hardships and triumphs. With great effort, the university strives to contribute to the revitalization of the country and the advancement of science. Centering on educating men and women, NJU has cultivated and nurtured many talents who have made enormous contributions and achievements in their respective fields. In all walks of life in society, the university continues to reform the mechanisms for cultivating creative talents and fostering outstanding talents with creativity, practical skill, and global vision.
As one of the most active universities in international communication and cooperation, NJU has developed close relationships with many top universities and research institutes around the world since its founding in the early 20th century. Furthermore, the university has established partnerships and exchange relationships with dozens of universities and research institutions at home and abroad. With the goal of broadening students' perspectives and promoting international cooperation, NJU has organized a series of collaborative international scientific research projects with global footprints.
The School of Earth Sciences and Engineering is one of the essential parts of Nanjing University and is one of the oldest geology educational programs in China. The School is also regarded as one of the top geology departments nationwide and has nurtured a large number of outstanding geoscientists. School researchers continue to advance the fields of mineralogy, mineralization of critical metals, mineral materials, and meteorite minerals. Additionally, mineralogy is closely related to physics, chemistry, materials science, and life science, so we are also actively involved in interdisciplinary research.
Holding the General Meeting of IMA in Nanjing is an incredible opportunity and a great privilege. Nanjing University is pleased to support a high-quality congress that provides broad societal outreach and scientific discussion.
